Comp Sci & Engineering

Computer Science & Engineering at Emery

At Emery, ALL students have the opportunity to learn how to use computational/algorithmic thinking to solve problems and to bring to life their creative ideas.  Emery’s commitment to Innovation is evident in the requirement that EVERY student completes at least two courses in the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department prior to graduation.

List of 2 items.

  • Middle School CSE Courses

Middle Schoolers don’t just learn about technology—they build with it. All 6th graders explore Intro to Computer Science and Design & Fabrication, mastering the basics of coding, 3D modeling/printing,  and laser cutting.

In 7th and 8th grade, they take their skills to the next level with immersive, yearlong courses in Robotics, Analog Game Design, Python, and Electrical Engineering.
  • Upper School CSE Courses

In the Upper School, students move from exploration to application—taking the foundational skills they developed in Middle School and using them to tackle more complex, open-ended challenges. Every student completes a full year of Computer Science & Engineering, beginning with Principles of Technology and Design, then advancing into specialized electives in Robotics, 3D Modeling, and Computer Science.

Their experience culminates in a Senior Capstone Project, where they independently design, prototype, and build innovative solutions inspired by their own interests and ambitions.
